Doug has 35 years of experience managing restaurants and worked in restaurant franchises before his time at The Local Bar. He won’t let us tell you how long he’s been cooking because he says it makes him sound old!
Doug and his parents, Jack and Sandy, took over The Local Bar in January of 1985. Doug bought them out in June of 1994 and is now the proud owner of The Local Bar as you know and love it today. The Local Bar is actually 3 buildings. The south side building was originally a church, the middle was a diner, and the north building was the store. The building was remodeled in 1983 and became a bar.
The Local Bar OwnerDoug grew up in Romney, Indiana. In 1977 Doug graduated from McCutchen High School and in 1981 he graduated from Butler University. After graduating, Doug began his career in the restaurant business by accepting a managerial position out of state, but his parents wanted him closer to home. To entice Doug to return to the area, they bought The Local Bar and he has been a part of it ever since. Doug is the proud father of two sons- James, who is a marine, and Justin who currently is on a baseball scholarship playing at Heartland Community College in Normal, Illinois.
Casey is a 27 year old writing student, Purdue basketball blogger and general sports enthusiast.
Nicole is a full-time Purdue student. She loves hiking, cooking, playing with her two dogs and spending time with family.
